Barndominiums add versatility to life’s limitations. Adequate storage space is always a top concern for property owners wanting to push the boundaries to get the most out of their square acres. Adding room to breathe just makes life easier. Clutter is a constant stressor. Unorganized property slows down the day-to-day. A bardnominium streamlines storage woes by giving you maximum storage space with minimal overhead. Resembling traditional aquarian buildings, modern barndominiums will never be limited by their namesake; they’ve been used for everything from standard storage to living area. A wooden-framed truss system from Harmony Timberworks can accentuate these sturdy wooden structures without the financial setback.

We got these trusses from Harmony Timberwork. Super nice people, great to work with.

Another Satisfied Harmony Timberworks Customer.

Heavy Timber Porch Make a Grand Entrance for Barndominium

Designing the ideal barndominium is quite the feat in engineering. Not only do even the most skilled of carpenters must measure out the exact dimensions for optimal storage space, they also must work within their budget without running into their red. Then there’s the fine aesthetics. Who wants an old barn sitting idly by, aging without grace, detracting from the natural beauty of the land? And there’s always something the designer wished they would’ve done differently. Hindsight on the ranch is measured in seasons and not minutes or days. A heavy timber truss porch system is a welcomed finishing touch to any existing wooden structure. Recently, an aviation fanatic installed a pre-assembled heavy timber truss porch to his barndominium to create a more welcoming egress without disturbing the barn’s structural integrity.

Easy DIY Construction

You don’t need a degree in engineering to construct a heavy timber porch system. Harmony Timberworks gives you the option to have heavy timber porch systems delivered pre-assembled or not. Each packed timber porch system can be easily unloaded with a forklift and a couple of willing buddies. Assembly is the definition of turnkey. Erecting and fastening the heavy trusses require no unsightly screws or nail heads that can blemish the final product. Only the wooden pins at the top will remain visible, so only the birds doing a flyby will see the finished fasteners. Each pre-packaged porch system is tightly sealed to prevent any inadvertent swelling and the included easy-to-read blueprints simplifies this ultimate feat of engineering. Scaffolding could also be a great staging area for tools and materials as you slowly piece together the heavy timber porch.

Harmony Timberworks Adds Sturdy Wooden Appeal From Front-to-Back

Not looking to be outdone by the enchanting front entryway, these customers also chose to erect a complementary back porch to the back of the barndominium for a final element of equilibrium. With the benefit of sudden experience from the front-installation, the aspiring install team were able to complete the rear heavy timber porch in a fraction of time despite the difficult terrain. Even the monstrous ridge beam, which is the crowing point of any heavy timber truss system, proved less than problematic in guiding it to it’s final resting point.

The main takeaways is it’s definitely a DIY doable project if you have some help. The telehandler is a must in my opinion. I don’t how people back in the 1800s did it, putting this stuff up. It’s just mind-blowing… Getting things as close as you can early on with the foundation and preparation made it go pretty smooth. I want to thank the guys at Harmony Timberworks again, it’s just a beautiful, beautiful thing to get it done.
