2020 has been a remarkable year for our nation and a remarkable year here at Harmony Timberworks. With well over 25 projects completed in the first eight months and no slow-down in sight, we feel very fortunate to be so busy in these uncertain times. Even in the best of times, the construction industry has always faced staffing challenges, logistical hurdles, supply chain issues, scheduling nightmares, and ever-shifting market conditions. Throw in a pandemic, persistent social unrest, and one of the most contentious elections in our nation’s history and you would think that the timber frame industry would be all but shut down. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Harmony Timberworks continues to meet your demands in uncertain times
Harmony Timberworks is doing everything we can to meet the demands of our valued customer base, striving our best to bring in some very demanding projects on budget and in as timely a manner as possible. Our business partners, engineers, vendors, carriers, and most importantly our clients have all teamed up to keep getting the job done right no matter what obstacles we have faced. Someday it will be smooth sailing again for our nation, and this industry, but until then we will keep problem-solving our way to success. See below for a few recently completed projects, followed by what we are working on right now, and what we see on the road ahead.
Full timber-frame structure is a sight to behold
We love a full timber-frame structure, and the Menezes project in Virginia came out great! Douglas Fir timbers, 2×6 Spruce T&G decking, and EPS-insulated roof panels combine to form this awesome indoor/outdoor residential structure. Who wouldn’t want to sleep on this timber frame porch? Installation was completed in September of 2019.
Masterfully built shelter becomes retirement community centerpiece
This multi-use shelter is part of the Twin Lakes Retirement Community in Burlington, NC. The hip roof design is repeated above with timber framed cupolas. Timbers are #1 Douglas Fir, FOHC (Free of Heart Center) for maximum strength and stability – this is the gold standard for timber framing and the minimum specification that we allow. The system will be covered with Select Douglas Fir 2×6 T&G roof decking. Project will be completed the week that this newsletter goes out! Harmony Timberworks has been an industry leader for over 40 years!
