Construction on the new Valle Crucis School broke ground on Nov. 2022 by H & M Constructors. A massive undertaking in scope and resources, the new school will cost approximately $50 million. Moreover, the school will become a cherished centerpiece in a school system that last broke ground on a new grade school in 2007. In addition to Mabel Elementary in 1995, Watauga High is the last new school built by the school system.
