You just can’t replace the look and feel of a timber frame system. While much about the modern building industry is changing, some things stay the same, and for good reason. At Harmony Timberworks, we value traditional building and understand the time honored traditions in crafting custom timber homes and artisanal style roofing systems. While composite building materials, such as concrete and vinyl, are here to stay, Harmony is making its mark on building projects with style and strength. We live in a cold and sterile world. While the Industrial Revolution has yielded us many conveniences, it has also made for some pretty drab and uninviting architecture. It’s time to revert to simpler, yet eloquent building styles that are time-tested and celebrate the dichotomy between manmade structures and  the surrounding beauty of our natural environment.

There’s no replacing the look and feel of custom timber frame structures

Improvements in modern building with cheaper and lighter building materials may seem like a step-up, but the long-term affects leave much to be desired in the finished product. Cheaper facades fade and crumble over time. While steel is the superior building material, it’s also expensive and impractical for smaller residential and commercial building projects. Your small-but-growing family-owned business deserves an inviting and comfortable feeling for customers and potential clients. Custom made arches and entryways from Harmony Timberworks are as functional as they are strong and durable. We offer more than just nice commercial marquees and pretty pavilions, as well. Our timber frame structures have become the endearing and robust support systems and shells for countless residences and vacation cabins. At the end of a long workday or week, which would you rather come home to? A drab and boring cookie cutter home in the suburbs or a custom made timber frame from Harmony Timberworks?

Our structures and roof truss systems are perfect for small families and businesses, as well as larger community organizations. Recently, we completed a multi-use shelter a the Twin Lakes Retirement Community in Burlington. The hip roof design is repeated above with timber framed cupolas. This particular model features Douglas Fir, FOHC (Free of Heart Center) for maximum strength and stability. This is the gold standard for timber framing and the minimum specification that we allow. The system is also covered with Select Douglas Fir 2′-x-6′ T&G roof decking. These timber frame roof systems aren’t just nice to look at either. They are strong and durable enough to withstand the scorching heat and unrelenting rains of the Carolinas. These multi-use shelters are sure to be the site of countless late night barbecues and community reunions for years to come while cheaper metal structures begin to fade and sag.
